::Setting a bot bit (or bot flag) for a user means that the changes by the user are no longer visible in Recent Changes (so that they do not get polluted). The changes by bots can also be hidden from a user's watchlist, if he chooses to do that in his preferences. You can create bots through [[Special:Makebot]]. It works the same as setting user rights.
